THE JOURNEY OF PAITHANI SAREE

THE JOURNEY OF PAITHANI SAREE

Sarees as fashion attire have always been the epitome of elegance and beauty. Whatever the occasion – festive, bridal, casual or formal – sarees make a statement like no other. At Swamini Sarees, the rising demand for this style speaks for itself. Sarees are now as exclusive as possible.

The garment's history is in the Indus Valley Civilization and is associated with cotton cultivation in India. Made from diverse materials like cotton and silk to chiffon, the regional handlooms fascinate the buyer. You find a range from Kanjeevaram, Patola, Banarasi, and Bhagalpuri to Ikat, Chanderi, Mekhala and more. The designs, patterns, materials used, and methods of working and wearing them differ in each state. Now designer sarees have become a niche market too.

Paithani is one such saree from Maharashtra that rules the minds of saree lovers. Every Maharashtrian bride wears a Paithani for her special day, while ladies prefer just Paithani to look their best.

This hand-woven silk saree originally comes from the town of Paithan in Maharashtra. The Peshwas boosted textiles in Paithan, which was famous for its trade in zari and silk. From Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb to the Nizams of Hyderabad, the royal patronage made Paithan the heart of Maharashtra textile culture. The industry later shifted to Yeola in Nashik, Maharashtra and is now the centre of Paithani sarees.

Fashionistas and saree lovers know Paithanis characteristics. While the body has small designs, the Padar or Pallu has a zari work with motifs of leaves, flowers and peacock. The Kath consists of intricately drawn motifs and ends in the Padar. Paithanis are silk sarees. The only exception is less use of gold in zari work and replacing it with silver for affordability. The high-end sarees can contain gold work.

The unique designs include vine & flowers, peacocks, petals, fan, parrots, floral, paisleys, etc. Another feature is the use of colours like Bottle Green, Golden Yellow, Red, Bright Blue, Peacock Blue, Silver Grey, Orange, Peach-pink, Black-white Blend, Aubergine Purple and White. Women can opt for six or nine-yard or nauvari Paithanis. Depending on the materials used, design and labour, the Paithani is priced.

Swamini Sarees showroom maintains a high standard in saree offerings. Its ongoing monsoon sale and the Saree Samradni contest are on the shopping calendar of every woman. This paradise will keep offering saree magic for aeons.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2aSxhZmPar9_wCSl7rcfdg

The Untold Story of Maratha Queen Tarabai: A Warrior, Mother, and Leader

Tarabai Bhosale, the wife of Chhatrapati Rajaram Bhosale and daughter-in-law of the renowned Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, reigned as queen from 1700-1708 and again from 1710-1713. Following her husband's death, Tarabai took control of the Maratha Empire and demonstrated her strength as a ruler by fiercely defending her kingdom against hostile foes. She was also the daughter of Maratha General Hambirao Mohite and Mainabai, and was born in 1675. Despite growing up amidst war and conflict, she was a brave and intelligent child. Her father was a trusted confidante of Shivaji, playing a pivotal role in the establishment of the Maratha Empire, and Tarabai learned values of courage, loyalty, and patriotism from him and his comrades. In 1689, Tarabai wed Rajaram Bhosale, but his sudden death in 1700 cut his reign short, leaving Tarabai as the sole leader of the Maratha Empire. Tarabai was not shaken by the daunting task before her, taking immediate charge of the kingdo...
